Marianne Hamilton is a lifelong journalist whose work has appeared in national and regional publications. She is also a fitness instructor and athlete who has earned more than 40 gold medals in Senior Olympics/Senior Games race-walking competitions across the US. She and her husband Doug are race directors for the Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George, and the co-founders and co-directors of the United States Power Walking Association.

Marianne devotes much of her time to volunteer work, serving as Past Chair and Board Member of the Art Around the Corner Foundation, former member of the St. George Arts Commission, co-director of the Southern Utah Wine Guild, and former special events manager of the DOCUTAH International Documentary Film Festival (prior to her move from California to St. George, she was the two-term chair of the Los Gatos Arts Commission, and a board member of the Los Gatos Music & Arts Foundation).

In 2022, Marianne received the prestigious “Excellence in the Arts Award” from the City of St. George, and she was a TEDx St. George speaker, describing how the arts connect communities. In January of 2022, Marianne was crowned Ms. Senior Universe, and she took home the Physical Fitness award at the 2022 Global Beauty Awards. In April of 2025, she received the “Partner in the Arts” award from the Art Around the Corner Foundation, signifying her long support for the arts.

Marianne is a breast cancer survivor who credits her commitment to fitness as the key to her

successful outcome, and she serves on Intermountain Healthcare’s Oncology Patient-Family

Advisory Council. Together with her husband Doug, Marianne is also the co-director of the

Southern Utah Wine Guild, a 501 c3 nonprofit organization that raises money for various local

charities through social events.
