SUMMER ARTS SHOWCASE: INSTALLATION

Musetrap

with Sara Flannery Murphy

Guided Workshop: June 26, 5PM

Open Installation hours and dates to be announced soon.

Center for the Arts at Kayenta

This interactive installation invites participants to tap into the collective force of human creativity by setting a trap for our muses. Experience this installation two ways: Join creator Sara Flannery Murphy on June 26 for a guided workshop with hands-on exercises and a lecture. Or, visit this “thrift store of ideas” during the open installation period, following your own instincts.

Either way, come with your creative blocks and attempt to appease The Muse!

Sara Flannery Murphy was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. Growing up, her family divided their time between Little Rock and the Arkansas Ozarks. She received her MFA in Creative Writing from Washington University in St. Louis and her MLIS from the University of British Columbia.

Murphy is the author of The Possessions (Harper, 2017), Girl One (MCD/FSG, 2021), and The Wonder State (MCD/FSG, 2023). Her shorter work has appeared in publications including The Guardian and LitHub.

Currently, Murphy lives in Washington, Utah, with her husband and two sons. She teaches craft- and publishing-related courses for Utah Tech and can be found behind the circulation desk at the Washington library. She also serves as the grants chair for Write On St. George, a chapter of the League of Utah Writers.

This event is part of the Kayenta Summer Arts Showcase, an all-month event featuring exceptional local artists and the premiere of brand-new creative work, across several disciplines. Join us this June to celebrate and experience local art, fun, and community.

We’re introducing tiered ticket pricing for this program. The Kayenta Summer Arts Showcase is about welcoming audiences to see the work of artists within their own community. We’re committed to making our events as accessible as possible, and believe this tiered structure will help remove financial barriers, while also presenting quality events and compensating artists fairly for their work. The pricing tiers are as follows:

$10 – Pay What You Can

$20 – Suggested Ticket Price

$30 – Support This Program
