Paul Jaussi was introduced to birding in college when he first saw a Western Tanager through a pair of binoculars and was hooked. That event started a passion for birding that has followed him throughout his life. While a native of Utah, he lived in Oregon for 22 years, where he helped grow the Friends of the Refuge for the newly founded Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge, serving as both a Board member and Vice President for several years.
Paul and his family recently moved to St. George, Utah where he was surprised at the wildlife diversity of the area. When the small Red Cliffs Audubon chapter was on the verge of shutting down, Paul agreed to take over so the birds and wildlife in this area didn’t lose their voice and served as president for 5 years. A manufacturing engineer by profession, Paul loves being outdoors whether hiking, backpacking, canyoneering, or leading birding field trips for the Audubon. He loves sharing the beauty and birds of Greater Zion with others. And he especially loves his wife and five children.
