SUMMARY:VOYAGER: Images of Jupiter from a New Perspective
DESCRIPTION:VOYAGER LECTURE SERIES\n\n\n\nImages of Jupiter from a New Perspective: Science and Art\n\n\n\nwith Candice Koharcheck\, Ph.D.\n  \n\n\n\nTuesday\, December 2\, 2025 at 7:30pm | Social Hour Begins at 6:30pm\n\n\n\nThe Lorraine Boccardo Theater\n  \n\n\n\nOur Voyager Lecture Series returns with an evening that journeys to the edge of human exploration—Jupiter. \n\n\n\nIn 2016\, NASA’s Juno spacecraft slipped into a polar orbit around the giant planet\, carrying a remarkable instrument: JunoCam\, a visible-light camera designed not just for scientists\, but for all of us. From this unique vantage point\, a new understanding of Jupiter’s swirling clouds and monumental storms is emerging—alongside a surprising collaboration between science and art. \n\n\n\nIn this talk\, planetary scientist Dr. Candice Koharcheck will share how JunoCam invites the public into the real work of an imaging team. Members of the public process raw spacecraft images\, transforming data into breathtaking portraits of Jupiter. The results are a striking blend of discovery and creativity \n\n             \nCandice Koharcheck has a Ph.D. in planetary science from UCLA. She began her career working at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory on the Voyager spacecraft operations. Throughout the decades since then she has worked on Cassini (Saturn orbiter)\, Mars Polar Lander\, Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter\, and now Juno\, in orbit around Jupiter. \n  \n  \n\nTICKETS\n\n \n  \n  \n  \n  \nThe Voyager Lecture Series is generously sponsored by Voyager Wealth Advisors and Cache Valley Bank.

SUMMARY:Cassia Streb / Sandstone Quartet - Between Home and Away
DESCRIPTION:MUSIC\nCassia Streb / Sandstone Quartet\nBetween Home and Away\nSaturday\, December 6\, 2025\, 7:30PM\nLorraine Boccardo Theater\n\n“We are gathering in the spirit of a salon. Each of these composers transforms familiar materials into something newly alive. I invite you to join us—to listen\, reflect\, and rediscover what it means to be at home in music.”\n— Cassia Streb\n\n\n\nHow do we find a sense of musical belonging—through the sounds of home\, or the songs of faraway places? Between Home and Away explores this question through three masterworks for string quartet by Antonín Dvořák\, Florence Price\, and Amy Beach—each illuminating the dialogue between identity\, influence\, and imagination. \nDvořák’s beloved “American” Quartet (composed in 1893) captures the composer’s wonder at the musical landscape of the New World\, weaving echoes of spirituals and Native American melodies into radiant chamber textures. Florence Price’s Five Folksongs in Counterpoint (1950) reclaims those same spiritual roots from within\, transforming familiar tunes like Swing Low\, Sweet Chariot into intricate\, joyful counterpoint. And Amy Beach’s Quartet for Strings in One Movement (1929) turns outward once more\, drawing inspiration from Inuit melodies to create a bold and luminous sound world. \nTogether\, these works invite us to listen beyond borders—to hear how music bridges distance and how\, through attentive listening\, we come to understand one another. \n  \nPerformance to be followed by a reception with the artists. \n  \n\nPerformers\nFelix Hernandez-Jones\, violin\nAdrienne Andisheh\, violin\nCassia Streb\, viola\nKevin Mills\, cello \nCurated by Cassia Streb\nLos Angeles–based violist\, composer\, and curator Cassia Streb brings her spirit of exploration to Kayenta in this new chamber music series. Trained in the classical tradition and deeply inspired by the natural world\, Streb’s curatorial approach bridges past and present\, honoring tradition while seeking new ways to listen. \n  \n\n\n\nTICKETS \n  \nWe have moved to a new ticketing system\, and are currently unable to accept AmericanExpress online. SUMMARY:DOCUTAH PRESENTS: Black Outside
DESCRIPTION:DOCUTAH PRESENTS\nBlack Outside\nFriday\, January 2\, 7:30pm\nThe Lorraine Boccardo Theater\n“That’s for White people.”\nA phrase that infuriated Gary Wilkerson\, Jr. as a young\, Black kid asking to do outdoorsy things\, like camping. He wasn’t old enough to understand that it was a warning\, passed down from generations of Black Americans who weren’t permitted to explore the outdoors for fear of being killed.\nTo confront this inherited fear\, Gary resolves to conquer the Pacific Crest Trail\, a grueling 2\,600 mile thru-hike from Mexico to Canada that takes six months to complete. With the guidance and support of his ride-or-die\, Mary\, Gary sets off on the adventure of a lifetime. But this treacherous journey is no easy feat – especially for a guy who’s never spent a night outside in his life. As he struggles to navigate the breathtaking wilderness and difficult terrain\, we follow his profound path to self-discovery\, forming unexpected bonds with fellow hikers and challenging the notion of what happens to Black people in the woods. \n\nPart of DOCUTAH’s Best of Fest at Center for the Arts at Kayenta \nRuntime: 79 Minutes \n$10 TICKETS \n

Honoring a Legacy. Inspiring the Future. \nThe Kayenta 100 Project is a living history initiative honoring the first five decades of the Kayenta community in southern Utah. From its bold beginnings in the 1970s to its emergence as a vibrant hub for culture\, design\, and desert living\, this five-part series invites residents and visitors alike to reflect on the people\, projects\, and ideas that shaped Kayenta’s unique story. Through storytelling\, archival media\, open discussions\, and interactive experiences\, each chapter highlights a transformative era in Kayenta’s evolution. \n  \nTICKETS \n  \nWe invite you to help us tell the story of our Kayenta community. SUMMARY:Repertory Dance Theatre
DESCRIPTION:DANCE\n\n\n\nRepertory Dance Theatre\n\n\n\nMIGRATIONS\n\n\n\nFriday\, January 23\, 2026 at 7:30pm Saturday\, January 24\, 2026 at 3:00pm\n\n\n\nThe Lorraine Boccardo Theater\n\n\n\nFor six decades\, Repertory Dance Theatre (RDT) has stood at the forefront of modern dance. Founded in 1966 in Salt Lake City\, Utah\, RDT is one of the world’s most respected repertory companies—celebrated for both preserving the legacy of modern dance and pushing the art form boldly forward. Often described as a living museum and a contemporary gallery\, RDT’s extraordinary collection spans the earliest pioneers of modern dance to today’s most innovative choreographers\, making the company a vital resource for artists and audiences alike. \n\n\n\nAs part of its 60th Anniversary Season\, RDT brings MIGRATIONS to the Center for the Arts at Kayenta—an evening-length work by acclaimed choreographer Zvi Gotheiner with an original score by Scott Killian. Created in 2023\, MIGRATIONS is a poetic and urgent meditation on movement\, survival\, and transformation in a rapidly changing world. \n\n\n\nDrawing inspiration from the instinctual journeys of migrating birds\, the relentless pace of human displacement\, and the accelerating loss of natural resources\, MIGRATIONS explores the fragile intersection of nature and civilization. Striking physicality\, evocative imagery\, and emotional depth come together to reflect a world in flux—beautiful\, precarious\, and profoundly interconnected. Through this powerful work\, audiences are invited to consider what it means to adapt and endure amid the realities of global climate change. MIGRATIONS also honors the 30-year creative partnership between RDT\, Zvi Gotheiner\, and composer Scott Killian—a collaboration that has shaped the company’s artistic voice for three decades. This performance is both a celebration of RDT’s remarkable history and a bold statement about the future of modern dance. \nTICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Voyager Lecture Series: Mass Extinctions
DESCRIPTION:VOYAGER LECTURE SERIES\nMass Extinctions\nwith Jerry Harris\nTuesday\, February 3\, 7:30pm\nSocial Hour Begins at 6:30pm\nThe Lorraine Boccardo Theater\n  \nOur Voyager Lecture Series continues in 2026 with this season’s theme: Venturing Into the Unknown. \nEarth’s history has been shaped by moments of profound loss—and remarkable renewal. In this Voyager Lecture\, scientist Jerry Harris explores the story of mass extinctions over the past half-billion years\, events that radically transformed life on our planet by erasing entire groups of organisms and opening the door for new forms of life to emerge. By uncovering the causes and consequences of these ancient upheavals\, Harris reveals what the deep past can tell us about the challenges we face today—and what our future may hold if we fail to learn from it. \n— \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nDr. Jerry Harris is a paleontologist and educator who most recently served as a professor at Utah Tech University (formerly Dixie State University)\, where he taught geology\, paleontology\, and related courses. He holds a Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Science from the University of Pennsylvania and has dedicated his career to uncovering and interpreting ancient life. Harris has long been involved with the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm\, serving as an advisor and contributing his expertise to research\, preservation\, and public education about the remarkable fossil record of southwestern Utah. In addition to his academic work\, he has co-authored publications on paleontology and helped bring the prehistoric world to life for students\, researchers\, and visitors alike. \n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\n\n \n  \n\nThe Voyager Lecture Series is generously sponsored by Voyager Wealth Advisors and Cache Valley Bank.
