SUMMARY:3hattrio
DESCRIPTION:MUSIC\n3hattrio\nWednesday\, September 9\, 2026 // 7:30p\n3hattrio returns to Kayenta for another night of music inspired by the natural world of their Zion Canyon home. 3hattrio emerged from the red rock country of Zion\, Utah in 2013\, when teenage violinist Eli Wrankle fell in with veteran musicians Greg Istock and Hal Cannon. The chemistry was instant. Blending their vastly different musical worlds\, they coined the term “American Desert Music” for their singular sound. After seven albums\, four European tours\, and a pandemic pause\, the trio reunites in September 2026 for a series of retrospective concerts. \nTICKETS

SUMMARY:Seeking the Wildest West: Histories of Wilderness Experiences and Challenges To Their Future
DESCRIPTION:VOYAGER LECTURE SERIES\nSeeking the Wildest West:\nHistories of Wilderness Experiences and Challenges To Their Future\nDr. Brenden Rensink\nTuesday\, October 6\, 2026\nSocial Hour at 6:30p // Presentation at 7:30p\nWhat does it mean to experience the West as truly wild—and what will it take to keep it that way?\nJoin historian Dr. Brenden Rensink for an engaging exploration of the American West and our evolving relationship with wilderness. Drawing on histories of outdoor experience\, recreation\, conservation\, and the landscapes themselves\, Dr. Rensink examines how generations have sought out\, understood\, and shaped the idea of the “wild” West. \nLooking to the future\, the conversation will consider the growing challenges facing these treasured places and ask what the history of wilderness can teach us about preserving meaningful encounters with wild landscapes for generations to come. \nBrenden W. A historian of the American West\, borderlands\, Indigenous peoples\, environment\, genocide studies\, and religion\, his recent books include the award-winning Native but Foreign: Indigenous Immigrants and Refugees in the North American Borderlands (2018) and Essays on American Indian and Mormon History (2019)\, and The North American West in the Twenty-First Century (2022). SUMMARY:DOCUTAH PRESENTS: Better Up There
DESCRIPTION:FILM\n \nDOCUTAH Presents\n \nBetter Up there\n \nFriday\, December 4\, 2026 // 7:30p\n \npart of First Fridays at Kayenta\nBetter Up There\, a 45-minute film portrait\, is the moving story of a unique life\, that of Léo Slemett. Through his rise in the world of freeride skiing\, Léo wages an incessant battle against adversity to pursue his dreams and push his limits. In the grandiose setting of the high mountains and the Freeride World Tour\, we see Léo face incredible challenges and setbacks. We observe how the loss of his two life partners shapes Léo’s life\, how he learns to live with this pain and continues to move forward. Imposed by a mountain that gives and takes everything from him\, the paradox of fullness and sadness drives the story and questions us: Isn’t Léo’s world a reflection of each of our lives? \n \nPresented as part of Kayenta’s First Fridays and DOCUTAH’s Best of Fest film series. \nTICKETS

SUMMARY:DOCUTAH PRESENTS: Cartapesta: The Carnival of Fano
DESCRIPTION:FILM\n\n\n\nDOCUTAH Presents\n\n\n\nCartapesta: The Carnival of Fano\n\n\n\nFriday\, February 5\, 2027 // 7:30p\n\n\n\npart of First Fridays at Kayenta\n\n\n\nItaly’s oldest Carnival\, memories\, footages\, a very powerful imagery rooted over the centuries in one city: Fano. A tradition\, that of papier-mâché\, and its float masters who\, generation after generation\, have been able to blend creativity\, engineering and manual skills to build those traveling stages called floats. A character\, named Vulón\, encountering a child. He doesn’t know anything about the Carnival of Fano. No one better than a Carnival mask to walk him around through parades\, costumes and sweets and to tell him that after all\, Carnival is more than a simple celebration: it’s a feeling\, a state of mind that warms the heart of a city and of the territory around. And while the carnival week is getting to an end\, somebody is up and ready for a new beginning… \n\n\n\nPresented as part of Kayenta’s First Fridays and DOCUTAH’s Best of Fest film series. \n TICKETS    \n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

DESCRIPTION:FILM\n \nDOCUTAH Presents\n \nThe Hole Story\n \nFriday\, April 2\, 2027 // 7:30p\n \npart of First Fridays at Kayenta\n \nThe discovery of a sixty-foot\, hand-made hole on a California mountain implicates a small town’s local mythology in a bizarre unsolved crime. For the Forest Service investigator\, it was just another case to solve. For an intrepid YouTuber\, it was a conspiracy to discredit his search for an ancient civilization. For a young man looking for work\, it was his coming-of-age story. For a local author\, it was a cautionary tale about the power of storytelling. \n \nPresented as part of Kayenta’s First Fridays and DOCUTAH’s Best of Fest film series. \n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n
