SUMMARY:Martha Scanlan & Jon Neufeld
DESCRIPTION:MUSIC\nMartha Scanlan & Jon Neufeld\nFriday\, March 8\, 2024 // 7:30pm\nThe Lorraine Boccardo Theater\nAnyone familiar with Martha Scanlan and Jon Neufeld’s unique alchemy on stage will not be surprised by the sense of being taken into the moment – their shows are in and of themselves a journey of improvisation; the way Jon Neufeld’s brilliant innovative guitar playing weaves effortlessly around Martha’s timeless songwriting is simply magical. While currents of deep Appalachian mountain valleys and vast Montana landscapes wind through Martha’s songs\, it’s really the accessibility and intimacy that defines them\, and how they seem to find their way into soundtracks by TBone Burnett\, pages of celebrated American novelists like Rick Bass and Joyce Carol Oates\, shared mixes by Emmy Lou Harris\, covers by roots musicians from Sarah Jarosz to Andrew Marlin to Solas\, quiet song circles and camp fires. \n  \n \n  \n$35

SUMMARY:Voyager Lecture Series How to Build a Bird\, Evolution-Style
DESCRIPTION:LECTURES & IDEAS\nVoyager Lecture Series\nHow to Build a Bird\, Evolution-Style\nPresentation by Jerry Harris\nTuesday\, February 27\, 2024 // 7:30pm\nOptional Social Hour With Like-Minded Friends\, Light Snacks And Beverages @ 6:30pm\nThe Lorraine Boccardo Theater\nWhat makes a bird a bird? And when did all those characteristically birdy features first evolve? The evolutionary origins of birds\, and the way that birds were “built” over the course of almost 100 million years\, may surprise you! \nDr. Jerry Harris was born at a very early age in Chicago\, Illinois. Shortly thereafter\, he became enamored with dinosaurs\, and his continued fascination with them proves that he’s never quite grown up completely. With a few hiccups along the way\, and by continually moving across the country\, he has earned B.A.\, M.S.\, and Ph.D. degrees in the geosciences\, focusing on vertebrate paleontology. He has worked at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science; he is currently the Director of Paleontology and a Professor of Geology at Dixie State University and is the scientific advisor to the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm in St. George. \n\n\nThe Voyager Lecture Series is generously sponsored by Voyager Wealth Advisors\, Cache Valley Bank\, and Richardson Brothers Custom Homes. \n \n\n\n\nTickets $20

SUMMARY:ADAM TENDLER: INHERITANCES
DESCRIPTION:MUSIC\nADAM TENDLER: INHERITANCES\nSaturday\, February 10\, 2023 // 7:30pm\nThe Lorraine Boccardo Theater\nAfter his father’s unexpected death\, pianist Adam Tendler used his inheritance\, a wad of cash received in a parking lot\, to begin a commissioning project inviting a broad spectrum of sound artists and composers to create new piano works exploring the idea of ‘inheritance’ itself. Woven into one intimate program\, these pieces tell a universal story of lineage\, loss\, and place\, and become a meditation on confronting our past while moving forward into the future. \nNew works to be performed are from a wonderful range of commissioned composers: Devonté Hynes\, Nico Muhly\, Laurie Anderson\, inti figgis-vizueta\, Pamela Z\, Ted Hearne\, Angélica Negrón\, Christopher Cerrone\, Marcos Balter\, Missy Mazzoli\, Darian Donovan Thomas\, Sarah Kirkland Snider\, Scott Wollschleger\, Mary Prescott\, Timo Andres and John Glover. \nTICKETS

SUMMARY:Voyager Lecture Series: Common and Not-So-Common Birds of Southwest Utah
DESCRIPTION:LECTURES & IDEAS\nVoyager Lecture Series\nCommon and Not-So-Common Birds of Southwest Utah\nPresentation by Paul Jauusi\nTuesday\, January 30\, 2024 // 7:30pm\nOptional Social Hour With Like-Minded Friends\, Light Snacks And Beverages @ 6:30pm\nThe Lorraine Boccardo Theater\nPaul Jaussi was introduced to birding in college when he first saw a Western Tanager through a pair of binoculars and was hooked. That event started a passion for birding that has followed him throughout his life. While a native of Utah\, he lived in Oregon for 22 years\, where he helped grow the Friends of the Refuge for the newly founded Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge\, serving as both a Board member and Vice President for several years. \nPaul and his family recently moved to St. George\, Utah where he was surprised at the wildlife diversity of the area. When the small Red Cliffs Audubon chapter was on the verge of shutting down\, Paul agreed to take over so the birds and wildlife in this area didn’t lose their voice and served as president for 5 years. A manufacturing engineer by profession\, Paul loves being outdoors whether hiking\, backpacking\, canyoneering\, or leading birding field trips for the Audubon. He loves sharing the beauty and birds of Greater Zion with others. And he especially loves his wife and five children. \nThe Voyager Lecture Series is generously sponsored by Voyager Wealth Advisors\, Cache Valley Bank\, and Richardson Brothers Custom Homes. \n \n  \nTickets $20
