Experience three remarkable pieces\, created between 2010 and today\, that will leave you breathless. \nIn Myth and Infrastructure\, Miwa’s shadow explores fantastical animation worlds\, as she traverses oceanscapes\, cityscapes\, and domestic spaces to conjure dreamlike scenes with light and shadow. \nThis World Made Itself is a visually and musically rich journey through the history of the earth\, from the universe’s epic beginnings to the complex world of humanity. The piece is at once semi-scientific (like flipping through a children’s encyclopedia)\, and emotional\, surreal\, and dream-like. \nAnd Infinitely Yours creates an emotional\, dream-like meditation on climate catastrophe and the Anthropocene – the proposed current era where human influence has effected almost all realms of earth’s natural systems.

SUMMARY:VOYAGER LECTURE: Southern Utah History Through Picture and Word
DESCRIPTION:VOYAGER LECTURE SERIES\nSouthern Utah History Through Picture and Word\nWith Lyman Hafen and Roland Lee\nTuesday\, February 25\, 7:30pm\nSocial Hour begins at 6:30pm\nThe Lorraine Boccardo Theater\nThis year’s Voyager Lecture Series follows “The History of This Land\,” from the deep time studied in geology\, through modern concerns related to our changing environment. \nFor February’s lecture\, hear from writer Lyman Hafen and artist Roland Lee as they explore the history of Southern Utah through art and literature. \nLyman Hafen and his wife Debbie are natives of St. George\, Utah. Lyman graduated from Dixie College where he discovered a love for learning and literature and came to terms with the idea that he would spend his life telling the compelling stories of this place to the world. After completing his education at Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in communications\, he co-founded St. George Magazine in 1983\, and was its editor for 16 years. He continues to write a bi-monthly column chronicling the history\, culture and personality of his fast-changing hometown. He has written twelve books of fiction and nonfiction\, and his writing has been honored on several occasions by the Utah Arts Council. Lyman is host of the NOT FORGOTTEN podcast sharing the legacy of stories of southern Utah. He recently retired after serving 25 years as executive director of Zion Natural History Association (now the Zion Forever Project) in Zion National Park. \nRoland Lee and his wife Nellie have lived in St. George for over 50 years. Roland’s interest in pioneer history has led him to do a series of watercolor paintings of early southern Utah as well as following the pioneer trail of his own ancestors. His historical paintings have appeared on the covers of The Ensign magazine and Pioneer magazine\, published by the Sons of Utah Pioneers. With paintings in over 2000 public and private collections\, Roland has been honored with the Governor’s Mansion Medal and a 40-year retrospective of his work at the Sears Museum. Over the past 40 years he has teamed up with writer Lyman Hafen on many books and publications. At the Voyager lecture Lyman will share his writings and Roland will show slides of his historical paintings while together sharing their appreciation for those who came before us. \n  \nTICKETS

SUMMARY:Dan Froot & Company’s Arms Around America
DESCRIPTION:THEATER\nDan Froot & Company’s\nArms Around America\nFriday\, March 21\, 7:30pm\nSaturday\, March 22\, 2:00pm & 7:30pm\nThe Lorraine Boccardo Theater\n\n“Gut-wrenching performances.” — New York Times \n\nArms Around America is a community-based theater project investigating how Americans experience fear\, power\, identity\, loss\, and love through our relationships with guns. The show is staged as a live radio-theater broadcast. Four actors voice dozens of characters in a constellation of six short plays based on real families whose lives have been shaped by guns. They are accompanied by a sound effects artist (Dan Froot) and Julio Montero’s driving score. \nThe plays focus not on guns themselves\, or even their political dimensions\, but on our relationships with guns and with each other. Members of our local community will host the evening from their seats at an on-stage kitchen table. After the performance\, the kitchen table participants will discuss the relevance of the plays to themselves and our communities. \n  \nThis presentation of Arms Around America was made possible with funding by the New England Foundation for the Arts’ National Theater Project\, with lead funding from the Mellon Foundation and additional support from the Doris Duke Foundation. \nThis programming is supported in part by Creative West and the National Endowment for the Arts. \n  \nTICKETS
